Schedule: Saturdays, February 4 – April 29 from 10:00am – 1:00pm *no class during spring break

Level: Ages 6 - 12

Full Class Description: Throughout this 12 week journey, keiki artists will experience a variety of different medias while exploring art throughout the ages, ranging from Aegean vessels to detailed drawing studies.  Artists will integrate symbols and storytelling with self expression, while finding inspiration from within ourselves, our family, our island, and our world!

Concept: As artists and people living on this Earth, we are constantly learning from our past and evolving for our future.  Creating provides an outlet for the journey!!
Technique: Paper mache sculpture, acrylic and watercolor painting, pencil drawing,

Supply fee includes: large tagboard to make “Artist’s Portfolio”, masking tape, acrylic paint, watercolor paint, oil pastels, all paper, drawing pencils, erasers, sharpie markers (extra fine and fine tip), paint brushes, paint palettes, water cups, clipboards, air-dry clay, newspaper, cardboard,

Students should bring: Sketchbook, snack or lunch, water bottle, oversized white t-shirt or plain white/canvas apron (will be decorating 1st day to use!), photocopy of pictures and small objects (figurines, toys, old instruments) **they will become part of an art piece!!!!***

Instructor Bio: Rosie Maldonado’s inspiration comes from her surroundings as she finds ways to recreate her experiences through art. Her work consists of expressive and exploratory styles, which allows her to relate her emotions and imagination into her artwork and process. Rosie studied at the State University of New York at New Paltz, graduating in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science and Liberal Arts in Art Education, and a concentration in ceramics. Having studied and explored many different styles of art has allowed her to keep an open heart and mind to all aspects of creation. She has a passion for extending her love for the arts to people of all ages. Rosie is currently teaching art at West Hawaii Explorations Academy and at Holualoa Elementary with the Donkey Mill Art Center.
